課程概述

The content of this course consists of the following topics:
1. Introduction to human-machine interface and medical mechatronics
2. Fundamentals of biopotentials
3. Electrophysiology and volume conductor
4. Electrooculography (EOG) and Electromyogram (EMG)
5. Biopotential electrodes
6. Circuit design and signal acquisition
7. Signal processing and pattern recognition
8. Fabrication and control of a robotic manipulator
9. Applying biopotentials for controlling a robotic manipulator
10. Case studies 

課程目標
This course is developed as a project-based learning (PBL) course. The students are capable of learning the fundamentals of biopotential and the technologies of developing biopotential activated human-machine interface. Furthermore, the circuit design, signal acquisition and signal processing related to the biopotential amplifier are all arranged as lectures and lab exercises to learn how to collect the electrooculography (EOG) and electromyography (EMG) signals form subjects. The EOG and EMG signals are further utilized for the pattern recognition to carry out the implementation of human-machine interface (HMI). At the same time, the recognized patterns are used to control a robotic manipulator that simulates the control of a prosthetic limb for the purpose of learning medical mechatronic integration. Finally, all lab exercise topics are arranged as projects to improve the hands-on skills and problem-solving capabilities.
